A business wargame is conducted over 2-3 days, with company managers assigned to teams representing their own company, competitors, and sometimes potential competitors. Company teams study their assigned company's capabilities, strategies, philosophy, and opportunities. Then they develop strategies and initiatives (new product introductions, market expansion, acquisitions) that they "play-out" while reacting to other initiatives launched by competing company teams during the wargame. At the same time, market changes and new conditions — technological advances, regulatory shifts, natural disasters — are introduced during the simulation for teams to react to and exploit. It's an ideal way to experience possible impacts of new market conditions and technologies, test out new ideas and strategic initiatives - and see how competitors and the market react. At the end of each "turn" (a 2-4 year period), the "Market" and "Control" teams (consultants and your staff) use their expert judgment to decide what worked and didn't, estimating each company's sales, profit and market valuation. The results and other news are presented to participants along with future trend information, and the next round of play begins.  Wargames are a proven method used by the largest, best companies to develop and test new lines of business and strategies.
